My Life in Recovery | A Photovoice Project.

My Life in Recovery is a 4 month-long collaborative Photovoice research project, which was designed to document the lives of people who are in recovery from addiction. The project gives voice to those in the recovery process and challenges the stereotypes that surround addiction through a public online exhibition. The medium of photography allows the participants to tell their stories of recovery, giving voice to the complexities of their journeys.

This collaboration took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, where the resources available to those in rehabilitation, after the detoxification process, are limited. The charitable association, Proslavi Oporavak (Celebrate Recovery), is the only organisation in Sarajevo seeking to support ex-addicts in resocialisation and advocates for social inclusion and reintegration of all those fighting addiction, into their local communities. The elimination of the stigma which is attached to addiction is one of the Organisation’s core objectives.
